Benjamin Mashaya

Benjamin Mashaya was born in 1986 in Nyanga, a beautiful mountainous region near the Mozambique border, he is from a family with a strong sculpting tradition. The Mashaya family is one of Zimbabwean’s most respected sculpting clans. Benjamin was educated in Nyanga completing his O’ Levels before he left school in 2003. He started carving at a tender age mentored by his brothers who where already successfully established as artists. “I made up my mind immediately”, he says, “sculpting would be my life carrier”. His sculptures portray man’s affinity to human nature. He attended several exhibitions. He wishes to travel to many countries to showcase his skills.
