Brian Chapenga

Born in 1986 in Guruve(Northern Zimbabwe)in a family of seven boys. Brian was inspired by his brothers while living in his homestead which is situated at the foot of a hill rich in frit serpentine stones, the Chiparambembwe hill. It was easier for him to experiment and develop his artistic carrier with a source of stone to work with. Using his brother’s tools and taking advantage of abundance of raw stones in the hill he set his heart into sculpting. By 1997, as a young boy, he saw some of his works being collected by Art dealers who used to tour the Guruve area, going deeper into the village to find other artists’ works. He then later joined Sanganai Art Group as a measure of broadening his market scope and then moved to Harare where he joined friends from his rural home and eventually partnered with his brother, Stewart. Together they create their own display. Brian sculpture practice continue to bloom and evolve, specialising in abstract flowers and figurative abstracts. To date his works have been collected by numerous collectors from around the world. ” I would want to thank my brothers and friends in giving me a hand and providing me with ideas in developing my own style.
